SUMMARY:The Annual Murphy & Cadogan Art Awards Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition\nPlan Your Visit | Meet the Artists | Virtual Gallery Experience \nSOMArts is proud to partner with the San Francisco Foundation to present The Annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition\, a focused look at the future of the Bay Area visual arts\, on view September 11–October 3\, 2021. Made possible by the San Francisco Foundation and its donors\, we’re excited to feature 16 promising visual artists working across disciplines and identifying young artists from Master of Fine Arts programs throughout the Bay Area whose work intersects with emerging trends. \nThe Jack K. and Gertrude Murphy Award is given to an MFA student of unusual caliber with great artistic promise. Edwin Anthony and Adalaine Boudreaux Cadogan both experienced financial challenges as art students and understood the great difference scholarships can make in the early phase of an artist’s career. The winners of the Cadogan Scholarships each receive support for their MFA studies. All the students benefit from participation in a professionally curated exhibition at SOMArts Cultural Center and mentorship from curator Kevin B. Chen. \nTHE ANNUAL MURPHY AND CADOGAN CONTEMPORARY ART AWARDS EXHIBITION 2021 AWARDEES \nMurphy Award\nAhn Lee\, University of California Berkeley \nCadogan Award\nKatayoun Bahrami\, California College of the Arts\nAndrew Catanese\, Stanford University \nErica Deeman\, University of California Berkeley \nAdrienne Defendi\, San Jose State University\nEdgar Fabián Frías\, University of California Berkeley \nKatharine T. SUMMARY:Amor Eterno: Digital Drag
DESCRIPTION:Now in its 21st year\, SOMArts’ annual Día de Los Muertos exhibition is one of the most internationally diverse Day of the Dead celebrations in the United States. \nLiving Legacies: Día de Los Muertos 2020 is a call to action for our responsibility to future generations. It is a call to invoke the strengths and lessons of our ancestors to survive the historic moment in which we’re currently living. This exhibition recognizes that the status quo has continued to fail communities of color while holding space for collective grief\, mourning\, and resilience in the face of systemic oppression. \nSan Francisco nightlife icon Per Sia takes over SOMArts’ Twitch stream on Thursday\, October 22\, 7–9pm\, $10 suggested donation for an evening of digital drag. Featuring queens and kings from New York City\, the Bay and LA\, Amor Eterno celebrates drag as remembrance and altar. \n×404\nSorry\, an error occurred.\n\n\n	This form is not available.\n\n\nCloseEnter Drag ShowHOSTPer Sia\nSan Francisco\nVenmo: @per-sia\nInstagram: @per_sia \nPERFORMERSDulce de Leche\nSan Francisco\nVenmo:\ndulce-de-leche\n \nInstagram:\ndulce_de_lech3 \nHorrorchata\nNew York City\nVenmo:\n@horrorchata-nyc \nInstagram:\n@horrorchatanyc \nJota Mercury\nOakland\nVenmo:\n@tinybex \nInstagram:\n@emjaymercury \nJuanita MORE!\nSan Francisco\nVenmo:\n@Juanita-More \nInstagram:\n@missmore8 \nTwitter:\n@JuanitaMore \nSan Cha\nLos Angeles\nVenmo:\n@elsancha \nInstagram:\n@__san_cha__ \nRio–lize\nSan Francisco\nVenmo:
\n@Rio-Lize-415 \nInstagram:\n@rio.lize.415
