The ballroom scene is primarily comprised of the Black and Latino LGBTQ individuals [communities that continue to be underserved] and our collaborative creates an inclusive atmosphere for LGBTQ+ black and brown individuals\, and their allies\, to express themselves in a fun\, safe\, and creative way\, while integrating access to resources and linkage to care through our partnership with local LGBTQ community-based organizations. \nOur vision for Oakland to All is to provide a permanent safe space for the Ballroom Community. We seek to continue to offer a spectrum of programs\, resources\, advocacy\, and outreach to the ballroom community by holding support groups\, classes\, and events\, and fostering an environment where expression and exploration of one’s self are safe and free from oppression. We envision a space where love comes first and important dialogue\, critical feedback\, and support continue to aid in the growth and positive change. We hope to continue cultivating a safe\, warm\, and welcoming space where the ballroom scene\, especially its lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, and queer community members can thrive free from homophobia\, sexism\, transmisogyny\, and racism. \nAALIGN\nAALIGN (he/they) is a visionary and multidisciplinary artist weaving the mediums of music\, dance & film. Co-founder of SEEN Collective @beseensf blending global\, genre-blurring sounds and cosmic grooves layered with percussion-heavy rhythms that move both body and spirit. A Fillmore native whose journey brought them around the world and back to the Bay\, every set is an intentional invitation into release and resonance. \nLBXX\nLBXX( pronounced lunchbox)\, is a local Black queer hip hop performance artist\, DJ and local activist. LBXX the Founder of San Francisco Black Pride Week\, a week in August dedicated to uplifting blackness in San Francisco & the Founder of Project Save the Gworls\, a local non profit aimed at providing rapid response funding to BIPOC LGBTQIA + & TGNC folks experiencing hardships due to a climate crisis or emergency. LBXX is also the Co Founder of the local DJ collective @__Makeroom known for creating spaces that center Black and Brown people throughout the Bay Area. \nSF Black Pride\nSan Francisco Black Pride sparked to life after local artist and activist LBXX (Gyasi Curry) posted a simple Instagram Reel asking why the city didn’t have its own dedicated Black Pride celebration like other major hubs. ; The question struck a massive chord\, going viral within 24 hours as hundreds of queer Black artists\, DJs\, and organizers flooded the comments\, ready to build. That overnight wave of grassroots momentum quickly transformed from an online musing into a fully fledged\, volunteer-led movement\, culminating in the city’s first official SF Black Pride Week in August 2025. Today\, San Francisco Black Pride is the official year round celebration of queer black pride in San Francisco. \nHeader image courtesy of Randy Lucina\, 2025.
